English aviation pioneer (1894–1973), who, as a member of the Royal Flying Corps in World War 1, became renowned as a long distance pilot. Vintage matte-finish 3.5 x 5.5 photo of Cobham in his pilot gear, signed in fountain pen, “Alan J. Cobham.” Encapsulated in a protective PSA/DNA cover. In very good condition, with a horizontal crease above the bottom border, light toning, a mild area of soiling next to the signature, and light silvering to the darker areas of the image.
